Do you celebrate a sober day?I go to a few meeting and they always want me to say my name a sober date. I have been sober years but after my last relapse I made a choice not to keep track of mild stones like celebrating one year of sobriety for example.

I see a goal to make it one year. Only reason I am keeping my date

I don’t do days yet I do years. Love my yearly metal in my pocket. After I get the next year it’s an awesome feeling to pass that metal on to others. We should always feel proud of keeping our sobriety miracle alive. Even 1 day should be celebrated.

It's yours to celebrate or not..... You do you! I'm proud of you for every minute.

Yeah I found I do better when I don’t really keep track the day I know the month I got sober but not having a count has def helped me stay grounded and not be overwhelmed

I think it’s important to celebrate! Whether it’s a day, a month, a year. It feels good to know that you made it through another year not drinking and using. At my home group we do monthly celebrations at the end of the month and we get cake, cupcakes, whatever! It’s a fun time and usually the meeting is about congratulating the people and they share their story and how they’ve made it that far. Look I fumble up the actual day all the time. That doesn’t really matter, nobody else is paying as close attention as you are. If you get it wrong, nobody’s going to notice.!

For me a sober celebration isn’t about me but is for newcomers who need to see it is possible to stay sober. I have 29 yrs sober. I always make sure to let others know through my experience some of what I have gone through during my sobriety and that I wasn’t always sober. I believe sober date is for others and not so much myself anymore.

Every milestone is reached one day at a time, so every day is crucial

I do and I think it helps. I really like getting a chip and people in meetings recognizing that. B

I've had several failed attempts a staying clean/sober (I learned a lot of what not to do) so I had a lot of sober dates and it got to the point where I didn't think about the date but I still know my sober date and always notice when the 20th comes around, there's no right or wrong like the other guy said, you do you!
