Don’t quit your job! No matter what anyone tells you. No one has to live your life, so remember that when you ask for advice. Rehab is a lucrative industry and they are waiting to take your hard earned money. Some workplaces offer FMLA for treatment. You need to find out about that first. Different states have different requirements. Talk to HR about this.
I think the question should be why would u want too !
It’s exactly what I realize ,I even had friend that clean for a while and work for rehab facilities and they actually getting Commision on every person they bringing in
If you don’t have insurance or they don’t offer benefits, you can consider meetings. AA is not the only option. You also have SMART, Refuge Recovery, LifeRing, Recovery Dharma, and others. These are all free and online as well as in person.
And there success rate is horrible and once you’ll ask this questions they’ll start give you half answer or show good success rate for year/two after rehab and that can be 50/60 even 90%… then when you’ll ask about 5 years suddenly it’s 2%
So rehab is a rip off in most places and I don’t like groups that what living me powerless over it
I completely understand. I don’t subscribe to the illness model and powerlessness. I see it as a developmental disorder and something that can be changed without any issues of power, powerlessness, or god/spirituality.
I agree with you
I’m just feel screws and that the only option it’s will maybe happens it’s by myself and yes it’s super hard
It is hard! Yes. It’s probably the hardest thing in life we will go through, but it’s imperative we deal with it. What other choice do we have, right?
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but citing low “success rates” isn’t indicative of rehab programs being ineffective. Hopefully you are able to find whatever path works for you
So what indicates it if not statistics success rate ?
And the 12 step looked like it tells you step by step what to do but it’s not 99% of it is to involve god in whatever they don’t have answers to
Sorry for been difficult that’s just my experience so far
For one, those statistics are impossible to independently verify. Second, without a control group to measure them against, the numbers are just numbers. They don’t necessarily correlate to the efficacy of rehab centers. It’s essentially just relapse rates in a random population.
I’m not saying rehabs are necessary pieces for everybody’s recovery. And some are definitely better than others. I just don’t think data can paint an accurate picture of how effective they are. There are far too many variables that statistically you can’t account for.
Very low rates of success, Joseph. Why go it alone? There are so many that you can do the journey with and so many that you can help start their journey.
I think it can be fine but the probability is highly unlikely.
I also don’t think you can technically “quit” addiction.
My addicted brain is part of who I am and that’s why I personally must use resources available to me.
I’ve quit using many times but always returned. What I experienced in treatment and in AA/NA has kept me sober and helped me to realize the my addiction is only, and in my opinion, a small part of my problem.
I sincerely wish you luck if you choose to quit unassisted. I personally could not.
I go to meetings most everyday, I don’t use between meetings, and I call on someone.
What you mean it’s a small problem ?
Spiritual and emotional sobriety are more a focus for me than chemical sobriety
Yes
It's not impossible, but social support is huge in preventing relapse
