Do you think it’s possible to quit addiction by yourself ?
No. Find a good local support group meeting.
No, I do not. You can probably go for short periods, but eventually the addiction would take back over
Yes, it’s possible. Most people with addiction simply grow out of it: why is this widely denied? | NZ Drug Foundation - At the heart of the matter.
Natural recovery is overlooked but it happens. Is it going to happen for you? I think we need to be proactive and do something to help ourselves, and often that involves getting feedback from others. Keep all options open.
Maybe after years of AA you can stay clean without going to meetings
There is some nuance here that is important imho. A person may not know yet whether they have an addiction or just a really bad habit. And they have to figure that out for themselves. I can say with 100% certainty that people kick their alcohol habit by themselves all the time. I have almost 10 examples in my broader friend group. AA will maintain that these folks were never “addicts” and IMO they’re probably correct. So if you truly have an addiction, not getting help is a recipe for failure. And even if you just have a bad habit, it helps to connect with others on the Non-Alcohol (but non-AA) path.
Anything is possible
Yes, but I don’t think it’s possible to truly heal alone. I quit a multi drug/alcohol addiction cold turkey alone. I stayed clean for six months with no support, but I was miserable. I didn’t start healing until I got involved. I still don’t work their program as I came in sober. The fellowship is the key.
Good answer
It’s much harder I believe. The fellowship and helping others is what really matters and keeps us sober
I personally couldn’t do it by myself. Tried many times. I need a support system and lots of guidance and like minded people sharing their experiences

father that the family I’ve tried for 6 years groups and I only hates it more and more (it’s center helped me stay clean)
I grow up with alcoholic father that destroyed the family and groups and 12 steps bringing up picture on my brain of me as 8 years old going to visit my dad in jail and rehab places
It’s only worsening my use and mental situation.
And as well I don’t want to ask my mom for help since I don’t want her to go through that again with me after what she been with my dad
I don’t have money or time to stop work and go to treatment Centre
Thank you❤️
You might need some help. The stats I posted don’t mean you don’t need help. Ok? If you’re here asking for advice it’s a really good indicator you would do well getting feedback from others.
No
Agree. I think this though is the hardest part about what many people face when they become sober curious. And I think many people want to believe they just have a bad habit because they don’t want to admit they have an illness. I can relate. This notion still crosses my mind more frequently than I wish to admit but no matter what the truth is, I know I am healthier, happier and better off not drinking regardless. That, along with many other actions, keeps me sober
Absolutely not
I know but what my option if it’s not family not groups and not expensive recovery treatment like rehab
I’m in a lot of debts if I’ll go for 30 day/90 days treatment I can lose my job my apartment and my car
And I also do t have this kind a money the cheapest one I found it’s 5000/6000$ a month I just don’t have this money
Thank you guys for the comments anyway
