Clarissa it sounds like you think you may have a problem. For me that anxiety was so bad I decided i needed help as well. I would suggest downloading meeting guide on your phone and going to an AA meeting. Raise your hand and say you need some help and I promise you will feel better when you leave then before you got there. Give it a try and you can have a chance to get alcohol out of your life one day at a time.

Once you’re tired enough of feeling that way you’ll be ready to try something else. Get honest with yourself. You’re not alone with how you feel. I was anxious waking up every day telling myself I wouldn’t drink only to go home and let myself down. It was a choice to isolate and it’s also a choice to ask for help. If you can buy the ticket to repeat the madness then you surely have it in you to try another way. Keep an open mind and do what’s best for you. Hope you get feeling better lady.

Yes, which is another reason I’ve decided to quit drinking.

Oh my gosh for some of us that is the greatest question of all time I get high anxiety without drinking try that one on for size and I didn't know that till I quit drinking it was part of the reason why I kept drinking

Now I don't drink for 15 years and 6 months and I still get anxiety probably since the day I quit drinking 70% of my mornings have been filled with anxiety but I get over it and I don't drink and I stay busy in the program and then I stay busy at work and then I just get better because I had to I didn't have a choice of quitting drinking or not anxiety was not the deciding factor I thought anxiety was the deciding factor it is not

If you can accept anxiety for what it is it will help you be more sober find out what it's from that doesn't mean it's going to go away but at least you'll know

I’ve experienced exactly what you are describing.. only fix would be another drink in the morning to stop the anxiety. That spiraled into another day of drinking followed by yet another day.. etc
Had to stop drinking completely, and so glad I did. Find a good meeting to attend and you’ll meet many others with similar experiences and help to stop the drinking.

Don't beat yourself up cause it may trigger to want to drink more, just breath and think off something that makes you happy and focus on that for a while, stay strong and I wish all the best and I hope you get through it...

Try breathwork, meditation, tapping-look up online, ways to manage anxiety.

Breathing exercises, meditation have helped me along with journaling, engaging in art.
Walking.
Being in nature.
There are countless ways to reduce anxiety.

Drinking increases anxiety and makes everything worse. I meant to include yoga. The resources and solutions are varied and numerous!

I am for medication also if diagnosed properly and by a trusted doctor.

I get it too. Fresh air, hydration, eat, meditation can help ease the anxiety.

True

Well I never heard that term, but I sure had it a helluva lot. And I don't miss it a bit. I use to have bad anxiety about going to meetings. Now I have anxiety if I ever have to miss one. I love what they've done for me. You can do this too, a day at a time

The problem with drinking to relax is that alcohol leads to more anxiety. There are lots of alternatives. Physical activity is one of the quickest because it yields more dopamine and that’s just one of the many ways to decrease anxiety. Sleep is important as well as drinking water. Basic things including healthy eating. But I also like prayer and meditation. I use music to meditate. Practicing these daily becomes a multiplier of their effectiveness.

There are lots of good suggestions on this thread talking with people and writing as in journals helps but letters are fine too. It’s very effective in helping the brain process thoughts and clarifying our thoughts

You have answered your own questions in your own post. Right now though you want to just get rid of the bad symptoms you don’t like about alcohol abuse, the unfortunate part is if your alcoholic, the negative parts will build and get much worse. Keep an honest eye on yourself and know when or if the time comes there is help out there.

Yes I had those and it’s terrifying. It’s part of alcohol withdrawal unfortunately. Alcohol messes with our central nervous system; I’ve felt like I was going to die before from it! I feel for you. I couldn’t take any of that anymore so I stopped. I recommend AA but there’s different paths for everyone.

I wrote this poem called A Poem For You...hope it helps you!

The life we were living just didn't work,
It brought us frustration, anger and pain,
We sought comfort from all forms of drink and drug,
We looked for sunshine but only got rain.

Our Higher Power guided Bill and Bob,
To create a gift for all to receive,
A book, a fellowship and the steps to change,
It will work if you just don't leave.

So go get yourself an AA sponsor,
Someone you admire, believe and trust,
You're on your way to a much better life,
And we will help you to rocket from the dust.

There certainly is a Higher Power... and it ain't you,
He brought you to AA for a specific reason,
Buckle up buttercup for a wild, wild ride,
And join our team for a winning season!
