Does anyone have any experience with marijuana withdrawals? I’m wondering how long the symptoms last and if the extreme anxiety goes away.
I had anxiety, cold sweating at night, and intense using dreams. Anxiety I don’t remember. The dreams lasted the longest. Still get a few per year. Sweating about 2 weeks.
I quit alcohol, weed, and xanex all on the same day after about 20 years of daily use of all three… so yeah there was a lot of anxiety at first. For me the anxiety really subsided about 6 months after getting sober. Now three years sober I’m very rarely anxious and find it really ironic that I was self medicating with substances to prevent anxiety caused by the withdrawal from substances
.
I’m not religious or a fan of AA/NA philosophy, but my therapist gave me some good advice early on: Accepting the things I can not change, changing the things that I can, and having the wisdom to know the difference is just good logic, and leads to increased serenity.
Weed has been my DOC for many years. I quit 96 days ago, along with alcohol, and other addictions. The withdrawals for me were similar to what was described above. Severe anxiety was number 1. Up was crippling the first week. I didn’t even know I suffered from anxiety before then. Lack of sleep, which I’m sure anxiety played a major role in. Night sweats, which really surprised me. Oh, and of course irritability. Anxiety got much better once I started going to meetings. Night sweats lasted several weeks. They were really bad. I started sleeping better after the first month. The irritability lessened as all these other symptoms slowly subside. The bottom line is my life is so much better now! I do miss my weed because I tend to want to stick my head under the covers and numb my feelings, but the consequences of me doing so are deadly. Also, I’m alive again. It’s kinda nice to be alive lol. Thanks for your post!! I wish you well

I never smoked it, so I have a question. If it's not addictive why are there withdrawals from it? I don't go along with the legislation of it.
Hi Charlie, I guess most of the withdrawals are psychological. People who smoke or use it for a long time have them.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you Chris
Thanks Gabriel
It makes sense. Psychology plays a big role in any addition. Look at my reply I used the wrong word for legalization. I must be a real psycho lol
It still makes sense lol.
I quit but then picked it again as my quality of life went down (I have other ailments.) Honestly, I do not use it often but it definitely has medicinal effects that I cannot get from pharmaceutical drugs.
It's still a drug and takes time to leave your system. That's why you can wake up in a cold sweat as it leaves your body. You won't need to sleep as much and the anxiety goes down slowly over time.
I know what you mean in regards to the medical effects.
Feels like menopause lol
I don't think it's addictive but it can format into a habit. I drink a gallon of milk or more every day, I love milk and I get withdrawals if I don't drink enough, my body needs the vitamin D probably but it's also a habit maybe even an addiction. But is it bad for me.?
