Does anyone live in or near Myrtle Beach, SC or have some resource that will allow me to find a sober support network there? I’ve been googling off and on for a month and coming up with nothing. We’re moving there from Northern IL in a couple months and I won’t know anyone and will definitely need some support with staying sober in a vacation city hundreds of miles from my hometown of over thirty years. I can’t even seem to find local meetings there that aren’t AA. I’m a queer atheist and have not had success with AA, at least in my rather homophobic current city. Plus I’d rather have at least something established before the move.

And the move is necessary at this time, because I never want to clothesline my 2yo to the ground and cover her until gunshots stop outside our house again. So a massive change to my life circumstances at a vulnerable period in said life is unavoidable.

There is a app for AA. It’s called meeting guide
I know you said you didn’t feel comfortable with that where you are. But I believe where you are going you will feel comfortable. At least give it a try

Down here in South Florida we have meetings for the LGBTQ community. As for atheist’s, I’m not sure what to tell you. You are certainly welcome in AA. I believe there’s a whole chapter in the big book regarding the subject. Hope you find what you are searching for :peace_symbol:

I have heard groups are different in other cities, I just know my anxiety is already going to be through the roof being in a new place. I appreciate the app suggestion, I’ll check that out :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t really need something specific to atheism, more somewhere that I won’t have people trying to convert me. It gets frustrating and disheartening because they usually come at it from the angle that I’m impossible to cure without religion. Thank you for the encouragement :slightly_smiling_face:

People in aa believe in all different higher powers.if they hold hands at the end stand out.I have seen that before.it is ok. Aa. Org.each state has a intergroup and state. Sending you a friend request.
