So the holidays are coming closer and closer. I’ve been sober for a couple of months and through that time I’ve worked out that my blood family hasn’t REALLY been there for me for the past six years since I moved out of town. The part that brings most pain is none of them have been there for my children when they lost someone that was truly there for them and went out of their way for them. Even after I acknowledged it, they seem to not care and ignore me. I feel guilty because they Are my family.. and practically most of what I have. But I don’t want my kids to feel subpar to their cousins and such just because I’m allowing My family to do that. I cut them off from my kids and they still fail to have empathy as a whole even with this action. Am I doing the right thing? My spouse is the one that has pointed it out and I always seem to become angry and sad when the subject arises, and it’s causing tension in our relationship since I can’t accept it. I’m beginning to understand but geez it’s so bothersome..
