Does it get easier? Do people forgive you?
Have you forgiven yourself?
I’ve been sober since August 1st 2018 & I’m working on fixing things still forgiveness is earned & I felt sorry for myself in 2022 & I turned into an angry POS & pushed everyone out of my life cause of my attitude & acting like a child it’s been almost 5 yrs and I still trying to win my family back. It don’t change overnight & whatever you do just understand that we messed up & there is no time table on our loved one healing……..so keep working your program & please be patient
The promises teaches us that if we live the AA principles in all of our affairs, those people you care about come back to you. They need to see action and not just hear words. Treat your recovery like a drowning man treats a life raft
The biggest apology is changed behaviors. And yes forgiveness is possible. Best wishes.
Yes they do but if you don't forgive yourself it won't matter
Yes, it takes longer than we think. Our addiction hurt them for years remember that my family suffered for 20+ years

CONGRATULATIONS
on your 209 days of sobriety. I'll start there.
You're newly sober. Just because you're sober don't expect people to come running back to you. The rule of thumb is taking the number of years you were drinking and multiplying it by two. Whatever that number is will be the amount of time people will finally forgive you. Some people will never forgive you. As much as you have forgiven them they will not forgive you and that's ok. That is on them NOT you.
As long as you are growing in recovery and by growing I'm referring to working on the better version of you. Remember talk is cheap you can say "I'm sorry" or "Please forgive me" all day long and it won't mean
until they see the actions being set forth on your behalf.
Always remember that forgiving is for giving.
