Does it make sense to go to rehab even though Ive been mostly sober the last eight months? I’ve never been to rehab and I feel like it would make my mom happy, but I don’t really feel like I need it since I’ve been doing pretty good staying away from shit.
Yes
I think IOP works better, it combines being in the real world, and still seeking support and treatment. If you are in a bubble, I think it’s even harder. I did I patient rehab, I was able to get of pills, permanently. I never had the chance to do IOP, to follow it up, till now. I feel it has helped me the most and not inpatient rehab again
If you have insurance and time, go for it. I went to outpatient but relapsed after 4 months or so. The next time I tried I went back in to the therapist part but added 12 step and that helped me much more.
Oh my gosh, relating. My family wants me to enter rehab. I am open to so. While I have been sober for periods including pretty much two years yet somehow this does not seem to be a big deal to some in my life. They don t get this journey I working on not taking things so personally. It is a daily moment by moment ah thing?!
I was with a clinic appointment this week after a while; my therapist there left. Craig. I also relapsed while I am proud of myself for the fact that I am seeking solutions and keep trying. These past days were tough being surrounded by family who seem to be about guilt and Shame. A part of me is like crap everyone needs to work the steps. To me they are life tools. Just one perspective...
Everyone I know would tell you to go to rehab. Like Craig said, “if you have insurance and time” go for it. I was there in December 2020 so like 9 months ago. I was going because other people wanted me to go so of course I thought it sucked back then. Now I would be like, sign me up but right now if I went, I think I would just be observing and not getting anything out of it. That’s just my opinion. I also left rehab after 3 days (omg if it was court ordered I would be on house arrest right now. Thank you God for not screwing me legally and financially). I fd up iop also. I thought that was worse. I quit after the 2nd day. I’m not even a quitter and I love school. I have 2 bachelors and a masters degree but I couldn’t last 1 week in either setting. The difference is now I care if I’m sober and I have been sober long enough to know what I like and what I don’t like. I made a lot of friends in treatment and I wish I could say I graduated with them but at the time, they were trying to catch a ride home with me. Most people at my rehab were forced to check in. Good luck. We’ll still be here when you get home
Beck, I forgot 1 thing. Go to a women only facility. They’re more comfortable than coed. It’s easier to talk about your crap when you’re at a slumber party.
Hello Beck!!!! this is just for me because I’ve been to a rehab for 30 days. Then after rehab I was going to a halfway house. But I had to wait for a bed to become open for me. So I went home and I remembered what they said about people places and things to change them. But I didn’t guess what happened. I almost relapsed. But I went to Albany New York and spent six months in an alcohol crisis center. And boy was that a eye-opener. I finally get to the halfway house almost a year and a half later after being there. I went to a supportive living program. That was another year and a half. That’s how dedicated and how bad I wanted to get away from the shit that I was on. I was doing it all for the wrong reason at first and then I started doing it for the right reason myself. I realized I needed to do it for me and nobody else. So I’m going to suggest did you go to a rehab. Even though you feel that you’re doing pretty good staying away from shit. Then you’re gonna realize did that shits all coming back and you would’ve wished like hell that you went to rehab. And it doesn’t have to be just a woman’s facility. Because most of the meetings outside are coed. And you can learn from both sides. But that’s totally up to you. Sorry about the book but I’m always long-winded when I try to help somebody. I love doing this for people because I care about people now. And I’ll say this for you if you don’t have faith in yourself I have faith for you. Just remember we’re all here for the same reason and we all help one another when we need it.
The operative word I see is mostly sober. Are drinking or not? Most ins. will cover some of the cost, mine did. I think it will help
You might check out the sober help section here in the app. There is a telehelp section that might give some guidance.
I don’t really think I’ll go. I have a full time job and an apartment and just feel like going would set me back more than helping me. I may change my mind in the near future though.
Thank you for your reply. I just recently got this app but other than this I don’t have a support network really or go to meetings so I’m happy I found you guys here.
I can understand that. I personally don’t want attention from guys right now in any type of romantic way and I could see people being flirtatious even at a rehab. Lol
Depends on if you were sober or in recovery? The difference is huge because it helps deal with the personal issues us as addicts tend to cover up
If you can afford to go, I’d go. Changed my life. Go to a nice place if you can.
