Does this brain fog ever go away? Im sober 4 months from alcohol, and will literally forget what I was doing within seconds.
It generally takes one month for each year you drank for brain fog to clear. It also depends on your age and other health factors
I used notebooks, post it notes and task lists that would sync between devices.
Getting into a 'normal' routine helped even things out. Which includes proper sleep.
It took me a while, but things got better. There are days I am still a little foggy, but it's a super light fog.
One task at a time makes life simpler.
I read about keeping a Done list, which may be a wise move too.
I'm at 3 1/2 years and I still have the brain fog alot
Building in some structure to the daily routine and setting up "ta da lists" are helpful (to do lists but less aggro). Sleep is a big one.
Thanks for the suggestions. It’s crazy, I’ll think of something to put on grocery list, and a minute later forget what it was!
I forgot about the 1 month per year, I did hear that in rehab
I really do think it’s different for everyone, but there are things that help. Eating healthy, staying hydrated, movement (even just walks), and sleep make a big difference. Some ppl also swear by supplements like omega-3s or magnesium. I take both, my biggest enemy is a lack of sleep. It’s always worth checking with your doc. The fog does eventually lift.
Thank you. I do take magnesium but may start taking the other stuff I took in rehab- folic acid, thiamine, etc
