Does this get easier? The weekend is coming up and I know I’m going to want something. Maybe I’ll do the Kombucha trick.
Aa meetings.meet people.
Ok.. it’s not easy.. it’s hard work.. that said.. life is what you make of it.. if you sit around all weekend and wish you have your DOC it’s going to be horrible.. however if you decide to move around.. you will be fine.. find joy.. just my two cents
Kombucha is like a light beer regarding alcohol content. Don’t know what your drug of choice was/is but I don’t consume alcohol anymore. I work steps have a sponsor and sponsees. It has gotten much easier for me with time and work.
Not sure about easier, life definitely gets better though.
Some days are more smooth than others... That's life though
Jess, it doesn’t necessarily get easier, However we are able to intuitively manage our lives. I was a wreck 25 months ago. My addiction became way out of control. I lost the love of my life, kicked out of my home and my life was upside down. I sobered up. Checked myself into rehab and fought tooth and nail about working the program of AA and finding God. Today, with lots of help from Loosid, AA, family friends, sponsor, the Bible and books on spirituality I’m a content person with a good heart and willingness to continue to change. The old me is slowly fading away. Some parts of me left quickly others try to hang on. I turn to God for guidance.
Keep showing sober. Keep asking questions. Learn to become willing to make the change. If you can’t ask God for the wisdom, courage and strength. It’s beautiful to be sober. It’s beautiful to help others. It’s beautiful to walk tall and smile at the world knowing I’m not hiding for the truth.
470 days here. It gets easier. Drink everything.
Amen. First step to sobriety is getting on your knees and asking God to rid yourself of the desires of the flesh. Next, get to bottom of what's causing a person to drink/use.
I had to do the work. AA didn't bode well with me. I'm 1294 days without alcohol. I feel great, sleep is sweet, and mornings on great.
It gets more manageable and life adjusts to being sober if one doesn't fight it.
That’s wonderful Nickki. I’m glad you found a program that works for you. That’s what’s great about AA if it’s not for you please keep looking. There are countless other ways for us to get sober and stay sober.
AA works for me, church also is now a part of my life and I’m completely open minded about other spiritual books, literature and even other programs. This journey of ours is unique to the individual. But our disease is common.
Keep your head! Keep sharing your experience strength and hope with others.
Watch some recovery videos on YouTube. There are some great videos and tips to help.
Hi Jess! It certainly gets easier! Drink a kombucha, or maybe make a specialty mocktail you can drink all weekend! I have been hooked on making homemade syrups and just adding soda water.
Hi Michael, just a gentle correction: most kombucha has an alcohol content of 0.5%, whereas light beers are usually between 3.5% to. 5.5%. Many sober people drink kombucha, because the alcohol content is negligible. Obviously if someone drinks and doesn’t feel right, then don’t drink it, but it is quite alright for many people in recovery.
I don’t need your correction about what I choose not to consume best of luck
Michael, I wasn’t telling you that you should consume kombucha. Merely pointing to the fact that the information you were stating was not quite factual.
The say in AA, non alcaholic beer is for non alcaholics
Yes Jess it gets easier. Hang in there. Hang with sober people and it gets easier and your learn to have fun with out the use of alcohol or drugs.
