Dozens of failed launches over the past several years. Hopefully this one sticks this time.

Booze?

Yes. It’s a problem, started hiding it in the house and drinking in garage. Ugh

Yeah I’ve totally been there for sure. I found bottles for a year after I got sober. A series of consequences involving health, legal, relationship problems convinced me that I needed to get sober. I tried some different things and couldn’t seem to get it. Finally ended up finding AA and going to treatment. Been involved in AA ever since. Been sober for a little over two years now, and things are really good. What things have you tried so far?

Think that’s whats holding me back. I haven’t done much of anything in the name of recovery (no AA, etc). Talked to a therapist for a few sessions who minimized my concerns and said Europeans drink as part of their culture, and that I might want to consider being more accepting/lenient with myself ha! I def didn’t go back to him

Yeah I’m pretty sure therapist like return customers. Lol You know the work and the things you need to do really aren’t very hard. I went to AA every day. You would think it would take up too much time. Found out I had way more time on my hands, because I wasn’t spending hours sneaking around and figuring out where and when to buy booze, I had to stash it, then I had to drink it, then I had to hide the empties. Madness. Try some different meetings. Find the ones you like. Go as often as you can. Keep an open mind and be patient. It really works. I’m not a paid spokesperson or anything. lol It worked for me.

Wise words from Shawn! AA has been working for me. Stopping the drinking is just the beginning. The real fun is in the spiritual change. I’m enjoying the important things in life like I haven’t done so in years! It’s amazing to finally be free. It ain’t all rainbows and unicorns 24/7/363, but the difficult moments do pass. I’m praying for you brother :peace_symbol:
