Drank last night. I’ve been sober since August and yesterday I bought 1.5 liters of wine and drank in 30 mins. Proceeded to make my husbands night terrible. He called my sister to come take care of me. I feel so ashamed. I feel like I’m irreparably broken and will never be fixed. I feel like I will never stop hurting the people I love until they leave me.

Well, keep using and they will. Hope you don’t need to hit that milestone. Pick yourself up, forgive yourself, and get at it again. Did it once, can again. Just don’t pick up and all will heal.

It’s a relapse. What did you learn from it? What are you going to do differently?

We all make mistakes. The road to recovery is bumpy but don’t let one bad night get in the way. It’s not going to always be easy but it will be worth it!

I quit drinking for 3 years and learned some of my most valuable lessons from relapse. My favorite analogy is sobriety is like a road trip, if you take a wrong turn, don’t just give up and keep going the wrong way, just get back on the road and keep going. You will get better at it.

Hey hang in there! I had 3 mos sober after Rehab and drank. Again earning trust back. Takes time but don’t quit!! Doing an AA Zoom tonight. Maybe u can find 1 also?!

U need to talk or txt I’m available later tonight!

Sounds mean... But put them big person boots back on and get up! You didn't lose you only dropped the ball. Now get back in the game.

You can make it back to sobriety. It isnt easy but you can do it. Get to some meetings and rebuild a foundation.

I relapsed after 5 years sobriety!! It happens !! Give yourself grace and do it again!!!

"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right"

Remember why you wanted to get sober, remember who you wanted to get sober for, remember how important getting sober was/is to you. See your sober self in your minds eye vs your drunk self.
Decide and do.
You got this.

It happens.. I have relapsed so many times I stopped counting! Last time was Xmas eve.. are you planning to get up and start again? If the answer is yes! Then screw it.. it’s over.. you can’t change it but you get another opportunity to prove everyone including yourself wrong! So just do it! I am!

Be glad that he is still your husband. One day, he might not be. He might be doing everything he is capable of doing just to be able to support you. Since you made his night terrible, I suggest that you do something to make up for it. Maybe sit and have a chat about why you picked up that bottle (or box?). Don't hold anything back. If you and him committed enough, you should be able to talk about your issues. He definitely deserves an apology and a reason, besides being drunk, for why you were mad at him, or at least, why you took it out on him.

I relapsed after 7 years and it got worse fast. I'm pulling for you.

Taking aim and keeping that aim even with fault is the vehicle out from where you are to where you want to be. Sounds trivial but an effort made is an effort done that cannot be undone. You can do this with all the help in the world from others but to aim to help yourself is the ultimate and then with any success you get to help others do the same. I wish for you what I wish for myself…love that is waiting to be found right where you are. Be strong and take care.
