Being a drunk is easy being a dry drunk is hard and sad. It’s like being mad and not being able to enjoy life without a drink because it’s a No. I guess I hate being told “no” I can’t do this or that. I want to achieve sobriety and peace. AA is great but how do you disclose the deepest darkest sh$* you have done with a stranger? Or call the one person that you acted a fool with and say sorry for that one thing that I did 10-years ago.
I just know drinking is not for me, but I am an addict to the feeling. I like the feeling of being drunk. I hate the aftermath but I love the feeling.
Dude… those steps are down the road. Don’t worry about them right now. The steps are in order for a reason. Don’t get ahead of yourself. You will know when it is time to move to the next one. Talk to your sponsor. Ask questions. Read the big book and twelve and twelve. Right now, you only need to not pick up, go to meetings, share, get involved. I used to think the same way… how am I going to do this. As you gain some time and your head clears… it becomes easier to understand. Trust the process. You got this man!
Tim thank you. I have yet to find an AA home group which I hear the term so often yet I don’t think I have ever had a home group. Just moved to KY and starting from the beginning. I hope and pray to find a way. Thanks again!
A home group is just the one meeting you never miss. I have changed home groups a few times. Don’t put too much stock into it. I found a mens meeting that was great for about 10 months, then a different meeting on a different day because of well… life. Usually your home group is where your sponsor is as well.
