Due to a recent breakup with a long term relationship

Due to a recent breakup with a long term relationship and a desire to change my people, places, things I have moved back to my parents house 6 hours away to help solidify my recovery efforts.
I am also 4 days free out of a 9 month jail stay for possession charges.
This trifecta of dramatic life-changing events has left me absolutely depleted and depressed, even though I know in my heart it's best for my future.
I'm going to church and meetings and gym but am open to any help/ideas to shake this slump?

hi William,

I feel like a lot of people here, myself included, can relate to your situation. I’m sure you’re feeling a lot of feelings right now, but it’s important to just go easy on yourself. You are doing great. This thing takes time, but I promise you, things will get better if you just stick with it.
I find meditating helps. I like to to listen to guided meditations— there’s several really good apps available. But alot of things can be meditation, even rocking to loud music can be meditation—anything that turns down the volume on your own thoughts. Also, I find journaling helps me start to see patterns in the way I think.

May I ask if you have found somebody from your new meetings to start working steps with?
For me, getting a sponser was vital.
It’s a jungle out there! I recommend getting yourself a jungle guide:)

Thanks for the reply Michael, no I haven't identified a home group or sponsor yet. Guided meditation seems like a great idea. Thanks again

This is happening in my life as well. Unfortunately, sometimes when we need to change it can be painful if we arent expecting it. I have faith that this is all happening for a reason... and trying to go with the flow, not against it.

I hope everything works out for you too brother.

Hi William:)
Hope you had an alright day.
Looks like you’re in Johnson City… I’m way out on the West Coast now but I’m from Nashville. I know there’s some great meetings where you are.
Just found this directory of stuff close to you.
https://aatricitiestn.com/meetings/
Some of my favorite meetings are the 12 and 12 studies.
You can download this PDF and keep it on your phone like I do:
http://www.ccaa.org.au/The%2012-Steps%20and%2012%20traditions.pdf

I find that book a lot more digestible than the big book, especially when you’re first trying to even wrap your head around what the heck the 12 steps are.

Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out. I printed the links out that's great you would do that for me. How was your day?

Hi William!
Hope you had a good day
My workday was pretty chill, and then I caught two back to back meetings, saw my sponsor for a little bit, and hung out with one of my sober trudging buddies. All in all, a pretty kick a$$ day! I am blessed
How is that pretty Tennessee air? Dang, I miss that humidity so much!
