Walking into 5 months sober next week and personally life is great and my gratitude list is longer than it’s ever been in my entire life. even when life isn’t so awesome, the desire to drink has left me which is such a blessing BUT what do y’all do about the overwhelming urge to tell everyone to just f*ck off sometimes!!!
I am a chef and the complete lack of work ethic, common sense, consideration for other people amongst my crew is driving me up a wall. I keep telling myself to just concentrate on my own darn self but when others actions affect your own life it makes it’s a little more difficult…There’s only so many times I can chant the serenity prayer in my head you guys hahahaha. Maybe my thinking is askew..
Advice welcome!!
For me this is where working the 12 steps of recovery made an enormous difference in my life. It was a simple way for me to adopt to be able to live on life’s terms and have peace even in the middle of other peoples chaos. It’s funny because I was dealing with the same stuff at 5 months
in retrospect it was my coping mechanism was finally gone, alcohol, and I just had no other life skills to deal with stuff. Anyway working the steps do for me what I used to rely on alcohol to do
I second what Brian said. The 12 steps really helped me live and let live.
Sometimes the less said is better keep the focus on road you want to be on staying sober I am sober 5 months also and have wanted to tell people to f* off and did but that didn’t solve anything so now I am just focusing on myself more and reading more in this Ap. Stay strong continue going in the right direction focus on you and not others you are not alone
Thanks guys hear you on all fronts! I’m blessed to work in a restaurant where all management is sober too so luckily I have built in therapists
I am definitely actively working the steps but am only on step four so from what I hear after I get through step 5 things will improve and hopefully my mindset along with it!!
