Wrapping up 6 days. Today was just rough. Long story short I had a few too many, fell down some steps and will likely need knee surgery. I’m trying to enter inpatient but I won’t be able to until it’s cleared by my dr and he can’t clear me yet. MRI is Tuesday and I’ll have a better idea of recovery and what’s next. I’ve been feeling mostly numb emotionally since my injury (surprisingly without the help of booze) but today something small really upset me and I just started balling. Wanted to drink SO BAD but I didn’t. I’m not able to get around with my leg in it’s current condition and have been doing everything I can think of to switch to a more positive outlook, but honestly? Today I’m just sad and I have to sit with it and it’s gonna be ok. Thanks for listening to my spiel
Hi Danielle,
I so understand where you are coming from. Last night I blacked out and hit my wall. Big gash in my head. It’s so hard for me staying sober. I am going to find some help just not sure where. I have not had a very good experience with AA. If you ever want to talk please reach out. You are in my prayers.
Online meetings running 24 hours a day, a great start would be building a support system of other women in recovery who you can get to know and trust. If you don’t like AA just try NA, alcohol is a drug, my drug of choice is alcohol but NA is a much better fit for me. It seems there’s more female support in NA as well.
Keep a PMA (positive mind attitude) u can do it!!!
If there is anything I am learning in sobriety, it is that ice cream fixes most problems.
Seriously though… get a snack you love, put on a great show, and take a deep breath and relax. Your knee will heal. Even better/faster without without alcohol in your system.
You bet. You can do it. One day at a time:ok_hand:

Go to meetings online. They will occupy some time. They will connect you with people who’ve been where you’re at. There are a lot of us in recovery who found relief in the rooms of 12 step recovery. And none of us wanted to go to our first meeting. But once we got there we found our people.
Maybe try therapy and an intensive out patient program? AA is okay for some but you’ll immediately be told you’re powerless and inundated with messages of weakness and shame. If that works for some, great, but may not for you. It certainly didn’t for me. I learned trauma was the underlying cause for self medication and adding additional self hate didn’t work, what did was clinical understanding of my specific situation and self care and positive motivation.
Women’s International meeting helped me so much in my recovery. I had it on constantly and just listened. Zoom id: 928 9414 8568 password: Billw
You don’t have to do this alone
in 3 days I have 10 months:sparkles:
It’s totally ok to feel down, perfectly normal especially given the set of challenges you’re facing rn. That’s great you aren’t drinking about it! You have so much to still be thankful for, keep goin lady, you’re doing amazing!
