Evening Gratitude

As I wind down my day I'm greatful that I got myself out of the house for the evening. I went by myself to The Odyssey. I loved it. It's never to late to become a new you. In sobriety I haven't had the courage to trust myself and with that comes isolation. After almost 7 years in recovery I decided it was time to stop hiding from myself. So I am putting myself safely out there. Go to the concert, go to a movie, just go. I did the bravest thing ever by getting sober and cowardly shamed myself for these last 7 years and convinced myself that I couldn't be trusted. Not anymore. I'm tired of my excuses to hide. Greatful today for the trust I'm finding in myself again.

I feel as if I relate to this. I got sober and hid at work getting two jobs and spending the rest of my time at home. This lasted a month or two before 4 years of sobriety and that isolation ultimately lead to my relapse. After I recovered from that now almost 2 years I'm getting out and living my life and seeing the parts of me long lost in addiction coming back. Safe to say I swapped addiction for substances for the addiction of isolation. Sober from both. Thanks for your share.
