Every day is going to be the day

Every morning I wake up full of regrets from drinking the day before. It doesn’t matter if I have 1 or 10, it’s the same feeling in the morning. So I say “today is the day I get sober”, but it never is. I feel like it is impossible, because the more determined I am to get sober, the more my alcoholic brain starts holding me down. Tricking me. Telling me I have control and I’m not an alcoholic. I hate that voice. How can I turn the voices that tell me to drink off?

Get plugged into a program. And keep talking about it. You’ve taken that first step by admitting you got a problem. Now put in the work to get sober. Up to you.

You have to really want it. More than you want to drink. After awhile it gets better once you see the benefits of sobriety

Thank you. I am contacting an outpatient program on Monday. I went through the program before and stayed sober for many months. Time to return and make it sober for lifetime. I want it so bad.

Cool beans. You got this.

Hi Abby, to get something you have never had you have to do things you have never done. You will have to change your habits, a strong suggestion in the beginning is to go to a meeting at that time that you usually would start drinking. Getting plugged into a program is helpful and will help you in working through the feelings and emotions behind the drinking.
