Everyday for the past two weeks, I’ve been having urges

Everyday for the past two weeks, I’ve been having urges to use. I am going through a lot, while residing at a residential drug treatment program. I will be going back to college, I’m starting EPRA, I am learning to love the women I am, it isn’t easy because this woman has been reborn, I’m starting from scratch and I’m learning something new about myself every single day. I’m fighting to regain custody of my son as well
Don’t know why these past two weeks have been driving me off the brink of sanity. If you have any advice about how to silence these intense cravings? I welcome prayers, advice, kindness, empathy and a slew of any of these would be suffice. This app, this community of individuals that are just like me has been one of my saving graces. I thank everyone for the immense outcry of support.

I have been sober several months, so it's likely my cravings aren't as strong but I still get serious cravings at times. When I'm craving as a distraction and an act of gratitude I engage in doing things that I couldn't do high. Like reading a good book, calling my grandma, going to a meeting or church service. It reminds me of what I've gained that day by being sober, and the freedom I have to use a mind that is no longer hazy or running rampant.

What you said opened my eyes and you really helped me. It’s the first response I’ve read this morning, and I truly appreciate your taking the time to read and respond

It’s been my experience that my cravings are coming from an emptiness in me. So this time around, I’m taking time to find my passions in life! What do I love to do. How much does it take up in my day, my creative space, my mental and emotional space. Now that I’ve pinpointed them, I do them during my cravings, and my cravings disappear!! Try it. Make your list of life loves! And activate them during cravings, see if it calms them.
