Family illnesses can lead to unexpected anxiety. One day at a time mentality is back!
Amen
Iâve been struggling with this since I was born due to my older brother being bipolar, in trouble with the law and drugs at an early age.. My teenage and young adult live seemed a bit more normal when he was âawayâ and when I went off to college then on my own at 21.. Fast forward a few years I learned my mother started doing drugs with my brother, parents eventually got divorced, mom lost her leg so I moved her in to care for her then she moved my brother in without my permission & they started doing bc drugs together again eventually leading to my moms passing Dec â20 & my brother back in jail. I became a counselor and used to drink âsociallyâ but the last few years, last year especially Iâve lost my sh*t and am ready to go to treatment for all the trauma, depression, anxiety, and alcohol addiction
Friends and family are basically done with me for âallowing it all to happenâ to me.. And here I am at 6am still lying wide awake SOBER but can not sleep due to the anxiety most days until I crash. Sorry for the unloading but your post really hit me & I can relate
. We all need to work on our codependency as well- that I find is my biggest challenge bc I have been working on it for a very long time.
It gets better. With help from others we can stay sober one day at a time when life happens.
Happy to share my story if youâre interested.
