Fatigue

I feel tired all of the time. I can get 8 hours of sleep every night, but I’m still exhausted when I wake up the next morning. Also, I feel exhausted throughout the whole day. Does anyone have any suggestions to have more energy throughout the day?

I would for sure ask my higher power for a blessing. Stay blessed! Oh, and COFFEE!

I can relate 100% I've been clean/sober for 4.5 years and I am also fatigued every day regardless of sleep quality. I've noticed, for me, a healthy breakfast helps immensely. Also, going to the gym in the morning gives me more energy throughout the day. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it's night and day difference for me.

I felt like that too, sleep or no sleep, I was wiped. Early sobriety hit my body and mind hard. It got better with time.
Have you went to get lab work done?

Shannon, this too shall pass. I found that little changes help. A bit of exercise in the morning, a cold shower, ditching coffee. And cutting back on sugar.
I hope this helps.

What worked for me was clearing up the negative thoughts and people. I always remember that the enemy sucks my energy and spirit up. That was my experience with feeling drained and tired.

I would try exercise, even when you're tired, bit not when it's time to sleep. Healthy fats, greens, protein as well.

Try taking some iron pills and/or B-12

I thought I’d never have energy again BUT I got Super B stress complex, L-tyrosine and Methyl folate. I made it a habit every morning as soon as I open my eyes I take them and coffee didn’t do enough for me so I drink chai tea every morning.
I’m a recovering meth addict with 68 days if I can do it I PROMISE you can to.
Message me anytime don’t let your addict brain get in your way

Hi, Tesscha,
This is Blake. Do you supplement with vitamins and are you getting sufficient fruits and vegetables? Vitamin C, D3, and a B Complex are a good place to start with the supplements if you’re not already taking any. Also consider getting a check up with female physician.

Yes I have gotten lab work done

780 days and there are days I still wake up exhausted and drained. Some days are going to be rough, but they will pass. Keeping a routine to force myself out of bed helps. I make sure I try and do these soon after I wake each day. Make my bed, two coffees, brisk walk outside and reading something good at the start of my day.
What I eat and who I am around affects my level of stress. Same with consuming negative content like news, music and movies. Trying to do some good each day has lots of benefits. Still learning what to avoid and what to focus on as best as possible. Hope some of these help. Start one ir more. Little changes over time add up.

It’s gonna take some time, especially depending on what your drug/s of choice were. They say sometimes it can take up to two years for your brain chemistry to finally level out after heavy drug addiction. Alcohol is extremely detrimental to healthy brain activity as well. Just know that every day is going to get a little easier. I’m a year clean and it’s still a struggle, but not nearly as bad as it was. Try to get into a set schedule and your body will appreciate that. I have to get up early for work every day and still I don’t go to sleep early enough, so don’t worry I’m talking to myself too lol!! You’re doing great though and you should be beyond proud of yourself!!!

Get a full panel blood test. It sounds like low red blood cells causing anemia. I had that. I take an OTC iron supplement and multi vitamin now.
