That’s awesome! It doesn’t feel awesome but it is! That means you’re perfectly right on track. Now, is when it’s a really good idea to take up a hobby. Something creative is best but, not necessary. I’m praying for you and I’m really proud of you. I have 21 months rn. So, it wasn’t so long ago that I was right where you are. I have a lot of empathy for you.

Thank you my dear! Ill be getting one or two of these, they would help a ton!!

When I talk to people about my sobriety I say….I had to learn to sit with my feelings…but not JUST sit. I had to learn to allow them space, accept what was truth in them, let go of what wasn’t truth, change the parts in the PRESENT that I could, and make peace with the consequences of the decisions made and the things out of my control.
You’re in that process, letting go of the guilt of the past and the anxiety of the future. Writing them down and talking them out loud definitely takes the power away from them in my personal experience.

First time I am learning of Diamond painting.
Gonna look into so.

I tried liking the comments - while I have hit my quota for liking uh, the comments, chortles!

Just relaying that I appreciate your honesty, Ang.
This felt like a tough week…I felt very fed up with well…sobriety.

I know that I am way better off than I was when, while drinking.

It was a rough week.
I have nothing against AA-while the meetings have yet to resonate with me.

I keep myself busy with work, hobbies-I have many amazing blessings.
I do get down about having the brain of an addict.
I wasted many years and I was ruminating on and about lost time, these past days especially.

I love doing diamond paintings! They keep me busy and my mind focused. Maybe youll find out you enjoy it!

Thank you so much for sharing. It sounds like we have all had our ups and downs this week. At least we all made it through- without having to use!!!

Dont beat yourself up for having the brain of an addict, we are all here for one reason or another. Give yourself some grace, at least you seen where the thinking error was and are doing your best everyday to improve on yourself!

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words, Ang…( as mentioned, for now-am unable to ah, like any of the comments )…while sincerely appreciate your perspective.

I will remember what you shared when my brain starts going into a negative loop, rabbit hole type of scenario.

I will not drink with y’all tonight.
( And will look into diamond paintings, thanks )!

Glad to be sober and know that sincere, supportive humans are out there who get these feelings.
Thank you!

Good to read that you are doing well, Ang!
Yes.
A sober Thanksgiving will make it more enjoyable.
We can look back and know that we did what was good and the best thing to do for ourselves.
( And not have to deal with regret, shame, the rest of it )!

Hi, Ang!
Yes.
There will always be some sh-try days and moments.

Things that are helping me-right now:

  • drinking Italian soda I bought on sale ( yeah, I need to cut down on my sugar intake )-while far better than downing like uh, two bottles of wine.
  • writing by hand in my notebook, trying to be consistent with morning pages…

( Continued from above, what is helping )…

  • being consistent with writing by hand, morning pages ( Julia Cameron / The Artist’s Way, morning pages )…
  • podcasts, like Rich Rolls’ podcast
  • gratitude lists
  • met with friends for lunch yesterday
There are so many things to do and be besides drinking, being a drunk!
Glad that we get to experience sobriety, Ang.
    We deserve to be!
