Feeling defeated 1 week sober after a 10 months

Feeling defeated 1 week sober after a relapse after 10 months sober. Fucc.

Adam it’s ok! Look at this as another chance to succeed! Forgive yourself and stay strong! I relapsed multiple times in my first year! Don’t be like me! but I will encourage you to keep coming back to sober!

Hang in there, been there, don’t beat yourself up, I’m sure you’re not alone, same thing happened to me when I was almost 2 years then I relapse but it was a learning experience for me.

Hi Adam, I’m sorry you’re struggling. My longest period of sobriety was 1.5 years, and I’ve had several relapses since (not saying this will happen to you). Please remember that a relapse doesn’t cancel out all the progress you have made. Relapse is a learning opportunity: look at what happened and figure out how to prevent it from happening in the future. You can do this, we’re all here for you!

Dust yourself off and get back on that sober train.

You got this Adam. I have also reset a few times. But every time I learn what triggered me to drink and get a little bit stronger.

A week is hope for one that’s unable to even foresee 24 hours..
It also sounds to me like change might be necessary.
We do recover :hugs:

I agree with the semtiments of everyone else! You had 10.months, had a relapse, and was able to pull out of it! That is a success to me. I have 13 years today, and I cannot say I would be able to interrupt a relapse on my own of it happened!

Hang in there Adam. You’re doing the right thing by getting back to being sober.

All you lost was time. Not knowledge. I can understand the disappointment in one's self for the "here I am AGAIN". Although my experience with "relapse" is with behaviors not substances. I continuously revisit Whitesnake and "Here I go again". I am continuing to learn new methods to view myself and new manners to apply principles in my life even in the double digits of recovery "time". I still must remember that today is my only guarantee. And not even the full day is guaranteed. If I die in this minute am I satisfied with my legacy?

Been there. I've had real time list it. Gained it. Lost it. I just look at it as a learning experience. Most importantly is to pick up and push forward. Nothing is lost. And your not alone.

I know how you feel. I had some sober time and relapsed myself. It was hard to get back but I did it. You can do it too. Stay positive.
