Feeling depressed

Since I have been sober, I have a hard time getting out of bed. It feels like I can't function without a couple of drinks. Is this normal?

Yes!

Completely

Yes it’s normal

You should see the doctor and talk about the depression and how it's making live hard for you. Maybe meds with help balance things but therapy could work too.

I did.

Totally agree with the replies here. There are a couple of medications that will stop the cravings. I used Naltroxone for a year. That with therapy might help. I wish you the best!

Ian, the couple of drinks to make me feel better is a huge lie!
Stay clean no matter what is my motto and golden rule!:facepunch:
Going to AA meetings, getting sponsored and doing the 12 steps helped me tremendously!!!
I’m here if you want to talk or have any questions

That happens. When we use, the chemicals take our brain from a 1 to a 100000000. Our normal brain function doesn't go that high. It goes 1-10. So when we stop and are having a bad day...say a 4, that is not even close to what we're used to am to it being. It can be, and is very depressing.

You'll start to see the benefits eventually. It's like showing up for life.
