:frowning: sorry man, that really must hurt. she is in a better place though, her death doesnt define your addiction. though it can be hard to deal with, we have to open ourselves up to this kind of vulnerability. if we run back to the things that broke us, we will remain broken. your grandma would love to see you happy, sober and doing well. this doesnt mean to ignore what happened, but it does mean that if she wouldnt want you running back to it, then you shouldnt. use her as motivation, like you would if she was still here.. what was she like?

Hey Harvey! I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your grandma :disappointed: This is one of those moments in sobriety that tests our recovery program. You are feeling your feelings. While these sad feelings are uncomfortable, we learned that it’s important we feel them so we can process them in a healthy manner rather than numb them like we used to. The fact that you are doing exactly this is a true miracle. The fact that you are sharing your feelings is another sign of you working a good program. I appreciate you sharing how you are handling this, as it helps me and others by showing us that we can get thru unpleasant life events without a drink/drug. As Alexis said above, your grandma is in a better place, and you staying sober would be her wish. May she rest in peace, as you continue your recovery journey. HMU if you need to chat. I’m here for you brother. Our sobriety is #1 :peace_symbol:

I am so sorry you lost your grandma. That is a difficult loss. I just became a grandma almost 20 months ago. My grandbabies were my catalyst in getting clean. I hope I am a positive presence for my grandbabies as they start navigating this world.

Just think how proud your grandma must have been to witness your transformation to sobriety!

We are here for you to channel your sadness in the right direction. I am discovering that it is ok to feel pain, sadness. Just feel. Cry if you need to. Reach out. You have people here who know your pain.:broken_heart:
