Hi. I'm new here and have been struggling with alcohol addiction for a long time now. I am 1 day sober and already feeling so anxious and exhausted:(
The first 3 days are scary. It’s important to plan ahead. Have a good support team ready, have treats (sugar) on hand also electrolytes for thirst. Being anxious is normal, try meditation, I use pure meditation to calm myself. The idea is you get out of your headspace. Allow yourself recovery time. You will have the shakes and trembling. Sweats and sleep disruption are all part of recovery. You got this, just prepare for it. Have someone call you every 4 hours to insure your okay. There are free detox programs available, try looking them up in your area.
I hear the pain in your voice. Just remember: you don't have to carry the weight of forever. You just have to carry the weight of today.
Just hold on. Many of us know exactly what you’re going through, and the best part is we can tell you that you will get through it. Use the tools you’ve learned from others and whatever program or foundation you’re building on, and before long you’ll be a year sober. Day one is the beginning of a healthier, happier lifestyle. Congratulations
You got eat! Eat a lot! Don't be shy! You're going to lose weight anyways because you stop drinking. Once you do that for two weeks you can try walking around and slowly get a workout routine going. 10 mins just to start and increase from there. Also be kind to yourself. You can't be amazing in one day. Take one thing at a time.
