Feeling lonely in a house full of people who don't understand me and what I'm going through.
I don’t think you’re alone in that feeling. I relate.
After being an active addiction to alcohol and other drugs for 25 years, and then looking back I see that for much of my life starting in childhood I felt always apart from never a part of social groups. This isolation and detachment is a state of mind that are addictive brain leverages to tell us lies like “nobody likes me, no one would understand, alcohol or drugs is the only thing that can bring me comfort… “The problem is this is a lie. The problem is this lies trying to kill you. The truth is that house full of people either a. Love you. Or be. Are struggling to love themselves to a point where they’re even able to have the capacity to love others. This is not a reflection of who you are, but rather a reflection of who they are. I would suggest listing as many things as you can think of that you’re grateful for. Write them down. Go for a walk. Breathe deeply. Set a goal for today, this week, this next year… And then reach those goals however small. Your potential is your greatest power and you are more lovable than you will ever know… Hang in there!
