Naps do wonders! Self-care even better.

I felt the same way until I learned a small trick that’s worked for me since.
In the moment of chaos, stress, or high emotion… Things aren’t clear or i feel stuck. I stop, close my eyes, breathe, and picture being somewhere I love. I slow everything down by breathing. It works so well, it almost feels like I’ve slept for 8 hours.

Too true. I'm learning to not worry about things that don't go my way and on my schedule. I could stand to talk my problems out with someone more than I have.

I take a moment to breathe and collect my thoughts on the situation slow down and calm my mind then take a different look at it can’t make decisions with a overwhelmed mind clarity and a bit of self awareness can make a difference in a overwhelming situation

Tap my toes and engage all my senses. Tapping on my collarbone area. The overwhelm fades

My therapist suggested the List of Pleasant Activities. They’re not all big or costly, some are as small as lighting a candle you enjoy smelling. This is helpful. Sometimes journaling works when my anxiety levels are too high for a nap. A hot shower and my favorite after shower body oil. Laying on the floor and doing twists to breathe and stretch.

Relax,pray

Listen to music, read, go for a walk, call someone.

Step away from the situation, breathe and regroup.

Today was challenging. I stepped back off the ledge. I asked for help and went to a meeting. I realized that I'm stronger sober than I ever was in addiction.

The serenity prayer works for me. Think before I act. Pause pray proceed
