My friends boyfriend I met for the second time, asked me:
“What would happen if you had a beer?”
“What if your drink was spiked, what would happen?”
These comments have began to scare and make me upset, I am 21 months sober today and I feel like day 1. What if that happened to a mocktail I order? Should I stay away for a while? I went to a AA meeting because I felt so unstable and scared of relapse.
Would like to know people’s thoughts and if this has happened to them when a comment just triggers.
Not your true friends
Absolutely don’t hang around those people
You should feel unsure about your friends boyfriend.
Hello Rachel. Your friend should have never allowed him to ask you anything about sobriety. She’s not a friend if she allowed him to ask you stupid questions like that. I just started hanging out with my friends after 3 years and they all have so much respect and give me support. We hang out and watch sports, go golfing or t gun range and never ever ask me questions about my sobriety. Stay strong and sober. And happy 21 months sober.
Remember we have a SPIRITUAL MALADY. THERE ARE SOME INSTANCES WHERE WE CAN BE THROWN FOR A LOOP. Learn that we need to protect ourselves from PEOPLE.... PLACES..... AND THINGS THAT CAN GET US OFF TRACK. HE IS NOT A FRIEND. BE AROUND PEOPLE WHO ENCOURAGE YOU TO CREATE THE FELLOWSHIP YOU CRAVE. TRUST THE PROCESS OF RECOVERY AND YOU WILL MAKE IT.......
"we will intuitively know how to handle things which used to baffle us". Work those steps my friend, be strong and driven and those promises will come true for you "if we work for them"
