Fellowship

I’m out of town on a work trip and decided to attend a local meeting last night. I didn’t do it because I had a craving for alcohol, but because I was craving fellowship. It was just nice to share that bond for an hour with new folks and share in a new space while hearing new voices reflecting on our sobriety together on a Saturday night. I don’t miss my drinking days, but I cherish what I’ve gained in my sobriety.

I can relate, I travel as well and seek out meetings along the way. Extremely comforting as the 12 steps are read, and I settle into that I am home feeling. Grounds me, my recovery is very portable, goes with me everywhere!

Yes indeed. I’ve travelled all over and enjoyed meetings in many different places. It is reassuring to find the program is the same everywhere I go. We’re not alone.
Sometimes if my schedule is hectic I still get a boost from just stopping at the local AA club for a cup of coffee or to introduce myself. Just as a touchstone.

Thanks for that tip Matt. It didn’t even occur to me.

You’re welcome, it was suggested to me the same way.
