Finally ready to start dating! But why is it so hard.
I ask the same thing, and I think it’s just down to the fact that sober people are spread out everywhere, but nowhere when you’re actually looking. Another factor being covid, that’s one of my concerns. It’s difficult to go anywhere without the risk of mild to severe illness nowadays. But, man, would I love to be able to actually meet new people.
I feel you. I am on like 3 dating sites.
Can't speak for you but personally my standards are much higher in sobriety
Ditto. Sobriety keeps me to a standard.
Begrudgingly on a few dating apps. I tried this app, took my photo off after someone screen shot it or something and it popped up elsewhere
Now I don't trust any of them.
All of these dating apps are filled with more bots, scams, catfish, liars, and cheats.
Weeding threw all of it became depressing... I'm not an a** who'd hit on a women at a meeting, and I hate social media.
So as a 43 yr old inelegant handsome man (moderately modest on both accounts) this new world dating scene sucks.
*also the dating portion of this app is terrible, so I don't really know what that other dude was getting at..
It is truly difficult to find someone who doesn't drink or at least have the same morals as me. I decided to stop looking and hopefully one day it will just come naturally. I'll just keep focusing on myself for now.
I feel this so much!!! It’s so hard to open up to someone..
Man, I could talk ALL day to a fellow alcoholic / addict and be pretty open. But anyone else? Not a chance!
I feel this so much!! Do you think that is a good or bad thing?
Hadn't thought about that. It's definitely always good to have people you can talk to. And if you want to date, the open communication has to be there for both parties. I could see how someone could say it's a negative though: if one of you fall it's possible you both fall. But 2 people working to stay sober can reinforce each other's sobriety.
So, I guess it ultimately comes down to the people.
