Finding a sponsor

I am having trouble finding a sponsor I found two but I don’t click with them. They are both too Jesus centered and I’ve tried doing that and it caused me to drink more. I’m gay and don’t feel accepted. I switched to paganism (worship a goddess) and it works a lot more to keep me sober. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

There are some “non god” AA groups out there. May take a little digging but they are around

I feel like I just want to go against everything my sponsor wants to tell me to do because he is very Jesus centered. I thought he would be good but I’m craving more after just talking with him twice.

I’m not suggesting Jesus. I just know that my way kept me drunk.

Keep going to meetings and really try to listen to what people say. Find the person who has whatever you want. Peace, gratitude, long term sobriety…whatever it is, that’s your sponsor. My son is gay also & in the program & he actually found a female sponsor that worked well for him….keep seeking & you will find what you need!!!!

I agree :100: it takes a lot of meetings to find the right sponcor. It’s important to really find the person you want to have what they have.

We beg of you to lay aside prejudice. There are LGBTQIA’s meetings, I’ve seen a couple of them on zoom. Maybe try and find some of those.
