I am too anxious to talk to people at meetings, so I haven’t gotten a sponsor yet. I am not scared of the work, just scared of men.

There is no where in the big book that says your sponcor has to be a man, the suggestion is to make for SURE to pick someone that there is no chance of romantic or that type of emotional connection with or hit lots of different meetings looking for the personality of a man you truly trust

If it helps try talking thru text or some type of messenger. Maybe it will help with your fear of men. I'm sure you have had your ba experiences with men in the past but not all men want to hurt you. Some of us are genuine and supportive. If you need to talk I'm always here. Stay strong

I would advise anyone to get a sponsor of the same gender, in any scenario. Good luck, we are all here for you

Hi Kayden, I am different then most people. I can talk to a group easier than I can one on one. I talked a little about my situation and someone approached me and said he would be my temporary sponsor until I found someone else. It been a little while now and he is still my sponsor. We actually have a lot in common with our past history. There’s quote that says 15 seconds of courage can change your life.

It is a good idea to go with the same gender. Just keep going to meetings until someone catches your interest and you feel comfortable enough to speak to them. Good luck and trust your gut.
