Finding Peace

Living in a world full of distractions it’s hard to find peace sometimes.

Peace is defined as: freedom from disturbance; tranquility.

Disturbance is based on perception.

To find peace you have to learn to change your perception which can be hard in a world full of distractions and at any given moment negative distractions can come your way.

Oldest trick in the book to help with this is a gratitude list first thing in the morning. Before checking your social media and engaging in the world take time to think about what you have to be grateful.

Some other helpful tips:

Surround yourself with positive people.
Listen to positive podcast
Watch inspiring YouTube videos
Walk away from negative people

It takes time to change your mindset from being focused on disturbances vs the peace you have within, but with time you can and will find it if you put forth effort.

Read this after your gratitude list daily:

Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation—some fact of my life—unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.

GRATITUDE!!!! I am alive because of gratitude. It really has become, at least sometimes, my only saving grace.

I’ve been homeless and unemployed for over a month now. I had been sleeping in my car, which had been in need of repairs for a while, and two weeks ago, it broke down and I had to let it go. And in that moment, it was like, my whole life had no visible direction. Even just figuring out where to exist through the hours of a day, and then the huge deal of having to sleep outside, it was so much.

When my feelings and worries start spiraling, I take out my journal and write as many things as I can about what I am grateful for. It helps to calm my soul every time. :purple_heart:
