I wanna go to meetings when someone. I know I can go by myself it’s just nice to have someone there. And someone that understands.
Hi Kylene, I suggest a slight shift in your thinking. When you attend meetings you are with countless people who understand, we share a common problem, and part of why programs work with sharing our stories is that we can all relate to each other. You are surrounded by possible friends in meetings. I get wanting to have someone you are familiar with, but try reaching out to people at the meetings you are attending and develop relationships that way.
Helps having sober friends who are nearby to support recovery. Hope you can that support.
I haven’t attended a meeting, just wondering if someone can reach out to the group and maybe two a meet and greet with the folks hosting the meeting? That can help break the ice
Hi Kylene! First, congrats on 14 months of sobriety! I’m glad I waited to reply, because Jenn said exactly what I was thinking…and she is so much better about putting it into words that actually make sense lol.
Thank you! I’ll try and open up. I just get so nervous sometimes I feel like they don’t wanna talk to me.
Totally understandable, I get nervous around people i don’t know too! Try connecting with a share and seek out that person, that way you have something to start the conversation!
