Finding the right resources for alcohol abuse and mental health has been difficult for me, especially working full time. The health network couldnt refer me to a therapist and I finally got scheduled with one for chronic pain, but not for what I need. I had to go to a different health network for mental health... and their chemical dependance is separate and intake is going to take a month. Meanwhile I lost my girlfriend who didnt believe I was trying to get help
Are you going to do inpatient? Is that why it’s taking one month? What are you planning to do in the meantime? You might consider some online or face-to-face meetings.
Sorry you are struggling Kyle. No doubt finding help can be difficult. I like Kerrie K’s suggestion of finding some zoom or in person meetings while you wait. What have you got to lose? They don’t cost anything. They are available almost 24/7. It’ll show you are doing something. It will give you a good head start while you wait for the system to get you some help. Either way, I wish you well brother

Don’t give up. Meetings for sure. If absolutely necessary go to an ER and tell them you need to detox. It will at least start the process. As far as the full time job…Your sobriety and well being are more important than anything. Do t try to fix everything in one swoop. It does take time. You got this. I believe you can do it.
Thanks all. Today is day 3. Im definitely struggling. On my way to a buddhist support group. I didnt want to go to AA because catholocism traumatized me lol
That’s understandable. I was raised in a stiflingly religious family myself and prefer Buddhist philosophy as well.
Plz let us know how you liked Buddhist camp, there is nothing like that in our area. Good luck.
