First day

Im grateful for my first day without alcohol in many months (longer than I can remember). Really, I'm thankful for how less stressed I feel tonight, even though i have plenty to be stressed about. It wasnt easy, with three strong cravings through the night, but as they say, the cravings pass. Im feeling proud and am thankful knowing that there are things to help make this easier as I go forward: other like-minded people, medication, and regular counseling.

Therapy is what helped start the shifts in my life. We are always right where we are supposed to be. Be gentle with yourself and if you need to set your alarm for 5 minutes to get through the next 5 minutes just do it as many times as needed. We do whatever we need to do to get sober and slowly but surely each day it gets easier until you can go days! without thinking about alcohol. It's a beautiful movement through life.

You should definitely be proud of yourself! Counseling is a great tool to utilize. Remember to give yourself grace and be patient with yourself. You got this!!
