That’s awesome Jenn! They typically ask at every meeting if there are any newcomers. Raise your hand and introduce yourself. From my experience, you will be welcome with open arms. We love newcomers! You are so brave! You are doing the right things and taking care of yourself. Keep your chin up, and enjoy the meeting.

Say your name and hello. Speak up and let others know where you’re at if you can. They’ll do the rest.

Good luck. It can be scary, but the more you share, the better it works. You will be amazed that total strangers care more about you than your old ‘friends’

Good for you Jenn! Remember everybody there had a first meeting too. If you’re comfortable sharing a lot or a little or none at all, it’s fine. Blessings!
Yay Jenn!! Listen for the similarities and not the differences!! Introduce yourself when they ask if there is a new comer.. if you don't have a sponsor yet, pay attention to those that raise their hands when asked who is willing to sponsor and stick around after the meeting and talk with them! Oh man!! I remember my first meeting!!! I'm so happy for you my friend!! Let us know how it went!!

Just open your mind and RELAX. You are a newcomer and the VIP. Let them know you are new and you are going to be treated very well.

So…how did it go? You can be honest. I’d like to hear your thoughts…good and bad. Did you feel welcomed? Did you relate?? Did the 12 steps and the talk of being powerless, and the God talk kinda freak you out? Remember, we all went thru this so we know what it’s like. We are here to help and support you. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions. We only wish that you stay sober and find peace

way to be I wish all the best for you! Grace abounds! No one can judge no one there and you'll feel it. Of course it's just gonna be uncomfortable for a min, then will get used to being uncomfortable & if u stick with it then it won't be long til you relax and enjoy your time there. Just soak it in today don't feel pressured to share right off the bat you'll have chances to. And u will want to once you get more used to it. It's freeing especially for those of us who never felt like they really belonged. It's a bond all our own and can even feel like family. Atleast that's how it is in my CR homegroup. I love & appreciate these people:purple_heart: check out other groups too if u feel led to. Eventually it does help to have 1 or even 2 that you like & can stay consistent with.

How did it go?
It went great! I was excited but nervous as soon as I started. I’m going to another tomorrow to try different ones for now.

That’s awesome Jenn! Yes that’s a great idea to try a different one tomorrow. Once you find one you like, see if there is a service position open. I love service work. I get to help setup, clean up and pass the 7th tradition basket around for my home group meeting. It’s a lot of fun and good people too! Keep up the good work my friend! You’re not alone. This is a we program.
Keep an open mind with it open you will hear your story time and time again from experienced members in whatever fellowship you choose. And soon you will build a network that’s recovery based and meetings will become your higher power and guide you in a direction beyond your wildest dreams!!!!
