I don’t know what type of drinker I am and I will over time learn my triggers. This week I focused on my job, cleaning my apartment and hitting the gym. I met my dad for lunch ( he drank) met up with a old friend ( he didn’t) and watched some of the met game at a bar / restaurant and felt fine I was actually able to hold a normal conversation and I sipped on a club soda and lime with my e-cig. It was nice to be fully present and clear headed…I got a ways to go but knowing I’m doing the right thing by not drinking makes me feel good idk hard to explain exactly. Each little thing I do without the alcohol is a small confidence boost I guess.
Awesome! I call those “small wins” and they were absolutely key to building momentum in my early sobriety. Anything that I used to do with a drink that I successfully navigated without a drink was a small win. The hardest hump to get over (for me) was the scenarios and interactions where people sort of expected that I would be drinking, and were aware that I wasn’t. I would “future trip” on that and just cave in before I even attempted to work through it. Seemed easier that way. So when I finally faced the music I realized it was never as bad as I made it up to be and also felt like a small win every time. Way to go man, keep building that momentum.
That’s an accomplishment! Great job. Moments like that definitely fuel the sober soul🥳
