Five days sober and now I’m starting to feel anxious and I wish I had alcohol to drown it out. What do you all do to get through just a random time of the day when you feel extra stressed for no reason?
Meditate. Stay mindful and redirect!
Cold shower and a lot of meditation.
Redirect! Anything to change the scene. Shower, nap, walk, run the vacuum, call someone that makes you feel good, meditate, stretch, breathe, whatever. Anything!
Go to a meeting, call someone, and most importantly breathe. The panic and anxiety will get less and eventually pass with time and work. When I first got sober I had panic attacks.. never before in my life had I experienced them. I got a sponsor and worked the steps to figure out why I was having them. Also therapy and meds helped a ton. Keep reaching out! You can get through it!
Hot bathes with Epsom salt, eat well, stay hydrated. The anxiety attacks will pass. Took me two weeks this time but felt so much better at 9 days. Don't give up!
