Food Cravings

What do you guys do for the cravings in order to not gain weight? I can't stop eating plums out of my fridge. I guess there are worse things. Last night I had cravings for sweet, then salty, then sweet, then salty. I made myself miso broth at 2am to shut my brain up so I could go to sleep!

Well if your cravings are for savory & sweets - seems like you are sustaining well with your choices :slightly_smiling_face:... I on the other hand have an insatiable craving for sweets. Give me all the Nothing Bundt Cakes, Crumbl Cookies & Cheesecakes galore! :yum: - I can always work off the gluttonous behavior later

This is normal. Your body is craving the using and the brain needs those endorphins. Sugar replaces the using. Most everyone gains weight once they stop using. Don’t worry about it. Just don’t use and eventually your brain and body will behave.

SAME! I have been going in on dark chocolate Reese’s. I just try to keep healthier snacky options on hand like fruits and crackers!

I’m guilty of consuming processed sugary sweets at night :persevere::sweat_smile:

Guilty as well. After a while it does calm down, and you’ll be better prepared for the cravings. 14 plus months later, and I’m on the couch eating grapes :grapes:, a whole bag of them :yum:

Ahhhh the ice cream replacement! Alcohol has a TON of sugar in it. That’s your body telling you it wants that sugar. But the calories are empty with liquor so actually I lost weight… until I was over consuming ice cream… now I am fluffy… but working on it. Lol..

When I’m craving snacks I try to do something to up the dopamine in my brain. For me it’s usually yoga. The cravings usually go away when I’m done with the yoga.

Honestly, have a huge salad. No croutons, a little cheese. No creamy dressings, unless it's a legit Caesar, with grilled chicken.

1 at a time. First I chose alcohol. Then a few months later nicotine. 8 months after that I stopped buying twizzlers every day. Now I’m even a few months removed from ice cream.

I worried about what was most dangerous for me first.

My suggestion is to NOT face any kind of craving or "acting out" alone. For example, a year ago I was compulsively looking at pornography. I could not stop on my own and hated what it was doing to me. I found someone in my support group who I could call. With ONE phone call it ended! I called BEFORE not AFTER. It worked for me.
