No one tells a person without a thyroid to “try harder” to make hormones. They take medication or their body destabilizes.
Alcoholism is the same kind of condition:
permanent
progressive if untreated
manageable only with ongoing care…
Where people get lost is wanting a cure instead of accepting lifelong treatment. AA never promised a cure. It offered a daily reprieve—contingent on spiritual condition and continued action.

Well said! AA is definitely a daily treatment that works if you work it. A cure would be being able to drink like "normal people" and stopping after one or two.
