... For Me

There's a big difference in using these two words to start a sentence or to even end it. It helps with a lot of people, I have found, when I use these words because it lets people know that I am being vulnerable and transparent, and I am not insinuating that somebody else needs to take the same courses of action or mindset that I have.

Many people don't want to be told what to do and it could be very threatening, even subconsciously. We like to make our own decisions and when others share their journey, it's giving me more ownership in making decisions for myself.

For instance, which is more palatable?

"When you start your recovery, go to a meeting everyday."

-OR-

"For me, when I started recovery, going to a being everyday really made a difference."

FOR ME, saying "for me" really helps to connect with others.
