For the first two weeks I was so happy to not be drinking but as I am headed to week 3…the cravings are starting and that little voice is there….you can have a drink
Normal. It's unfortunate though. You don't have to drink. Find something productive to do, i.e., exercise, listen to your favorite jams.
You can handle them.
This is exactly the point, in my opinion, to dive into your program. Go to a meeting every day, get involved in meetings, pour coffee or take out the rubbish bins. If you stay in the middle of the herd of recovery it is much harder to give in to those temptations.
Call your sponsor 2x a day.
Hi Mandy, it is without a doubt tough. But you can't give in to 1 drink. It doesn't work and I think you know that or you wouldn't be here. I usually dive into a project or more often grab my ipod and take a walk. I have a ton of stuff to listen to, not just music. It clears my head.
Play the tape forward. What happened last time you thought you could have a drink? Keep replaying that tape, call someone and tell them. Hold yourself accountable. Try to do an activity with someone.
If you remove alcohol from the alcoholic, you're left with ic.
Consider working a program of recovery to help with that.
90 meetings in 90 days and keep it up for a year.if you can. It will help in the long run.if any thing happens go to a meeting.
I get the Vivitrol shot once a month. 3rd month and not 1 "craving" thought.
