For the newly sober who made it through the holidays.... You're doing great, keep it up!

When I finally got sober and it lasted, my sobriety date was on December 14th. I just knew I wouldn't make it through Christmas, new year's, my son's birthday, the anniversary of my mother's death, etc... (All of which were in my first 3 weeks of sobriety).
Add to that, my wife had already informed me she was leaving me after the holidays and she and the kids would be moving in January. You could say it was a little rough.
Thankfully, I had the support of an angel in the form of a counselor. She recommended that I go away to inpatient treatment and that I focus on recovery and put everything else in God's hands. Again, not easy.
This was all 9 years ago, and I say it to say this...
For those of you who recently got sober and have made it through the holidays, I know first hand how difficult it was for you and I'm incredibly proud of all of you. I'm also able to tell you that if you made it through that, you can make it through anything, and that each day, month, and year you add to your sobriety will add up to a life you can be proud of.
Congrats!!! You Rock!
