Found out an acquaintance I had started out in sobriety with died at the age of 51 a few days ago. She couldn’t stay sober , she was in denial of this deadly disease all the way up until the end. She leaves behind a young son and many people who loved her . She will be missed. RIP my friend

This one of the hardest parts of sobriety.
Unfortunately, this type of news is too prevalent. The longer we stay sober and in a program of recovery, there’ll be these cases, stories of peers who continue to struggle with active alcoholism and addiction. It’s heart breaking to watch and then ultimately hear about an acquaintance or friend who dies indirectly or directly from this disease.
