Without boozing I don’t know what to do with myself. Nothing is appealing. Sitting alone on my couch watching YouTube. Ugh
There’s a cool zoom meeting in Hawaii at 10 eastern 7 pacific. Starts in 20 minutes.

Really dry stuff. Coding tutorials. Lol! I just am not in the mode for escapism/fiction which is usually what I do when I’m drinking. Really just not in a mood to do anything and it’s been like this the last few days
Thanks!
It’s a 12 step speaker meeting. Someone tells their story. What they used to be like. What they did to get sober. And how life is now. Last week it was spectacular.
Have you worked any steps yet
I went to a meeting & then burritos afterwards with a few guys in the fellowship. There are things to do in sobriety, if you want it. Remember, your disease wants you all alone.
Me last night, I ended up poppin on a audio book and walked a couple miles. It definitely helped. You got this!
Thanks all. The boredom and cravings passed. I remembered words I heard on a podcast recently, any time you’re in a “moment” you don’t like, just allow yourself 20 minutes without reacting. Everything passes
No I don’t currently do 12 step though I’ve thought about it. I don’t like the term “alcoholic” and think it’s scientifically inaccurate (we can all become dependent on alcohol), and I’m atheist
Honest question, why are you reaching out if you're rejecting the suggestions of others who've gotten sober. Dismissing a viable option without even trying it is contempt prior to investigation. My sponsor came to AA a hardcore atheist & has over 16 years. The people here are throwing you a lifeline, you may want to grab it.
I’ve tried it. Not for me. I never condemned it just explained why I’m not strongly considering it
I don't subscribe to any religion the Higher Power is a moving target as I go down this path. For example in my experience as of today Truth,Forgiveness, Synchronicity, Willingness to actively help when I am unhappy, Insides matching my outsides, The Current Moment, Challenges, Successes, A Phone Call from someone in need of my help, Mathematics, Reality in and of itself, Laughter and on and on. I don't ever stop finding my Higher Power to me it is endless. The first 100 were a mixed bag and there were plenty of Atheists reeling Bill W in on his Christian leanings, yes I see the fingerprints of Christianity but I also get a Buddhist feel as well when I read. From my understanding the 12 steps provide a set of guidelines that make your insides match your outsides and mend our harms to others so we can live and breathe again. I see them as a mechanical process that produces a spiritual connection to this Reality we live in. The original Oxford Steps are 6:
- Complete deflation
- Dependance and Guidance from a Higher Power
- Moral inventory
- Confession
- Restitution
- Continued work with other alcoholics
