Friendly reminder when we are struggling

The new research shows that it takes at least two weeks for the brain to start returning to normal, so this is the point at which the alcohol recovery timeline begins. Until the brain has recovered, it is less able so suppress the urge to drink. This is because the alcohol has impaired the brains cognitive ability.

Thank you. I’m on day 2 and it’s been tough.

I get it Cassie...honestly you will feel better in a few more days. I promise. Please  hang in there! It makes so much sense it's harder to say no and not relapse in the first few weeks.

I spent twelve years running from withdrawal. It’s a horror I wouldn’t wish on own enemy. I will say that my brain at 337 days is no where near the same brain that it was at week 2.

I am sure! That's wonderful.

I can testify to that it takes roughly 2 weeks lol. I never knew about the research. I was just aware that everytime I relapsed it took me about 12-14 days or so to not feel that severe urge. A few times it felt like it took about a month but I also abused opiates as well.
