So I finally got a prescription for gabapentin from my dr for anxiety. She has me on 100mg 3x a day. Those of you that have taken it, when does the sleepiness go away? Very groggy today it's my first day on it.

I have tried everything else this is a last resort after a three year battle with anxiety and trying literally every other medication known to man. Hydroxyzine does not work for me. I am on three benzos a day just to make it through. We are trying the gabapentin because my brother has had success with it and we are very similar in our reactions to medications. As the day has worn on I'm less tired and took my second dose an hour ago and don't even feel sleepy so I think the tiredness will be going away for me.

Thanks. I'm on day 2 and the tiredness has gone away and I've already cut back slowly on the amount of benzos I take per day- used to have to take a midday ativan, haven't needed it the last two days. So far so good.

That's what I'm hoping. My brother takes it and it helps his anxiety a lot and we are very similar. The internet says it takes a week to a month to feel the full effects but it's already helping so that's a good sign.
